Reason #1: Climate Control Storage Keeps Your Items in Mint Condition
Storage units without climate control fluctuate in temperatures much like the weather outside. If you have items that need to remain in constant conditions, then you’ll want climate controlled units. While we’re lucky in the northwest to not experience major weather transitions, we do have our fair share of humidity and moisture. Some damage that may occur because of this includes warping from expanding and contracting, corrosion from condensation, fading, mildew or mold, and tearing or generally breaking.
Here are some items that may need climate control conditions:
Reason #2: You’re in an Enclosed Unit
Most climate control units are located indoors, and therefore you can access your unit in relative comfort. This also means that it’s less exposed to dust, pests and even inclement weather. You also get a bit more alone time with your unit than outdoor units where everyone is coming and going.
Reason #3: You Can Store for Longer
When items are stored for a long period of time in standard storage units, unless they are properly packed, wrapped or periodically treated – damage can occur. That’s not the case with climate control units, where it avoids the freezing and thawing, the mildew that grows, or other common storing issues. So you can store worry-free, for however long you need.
Reason #4: Climate Control is More Than Just Staying Cool
When we think of climate control, our brains often go to the “cool side” of controlling the temperature. But this also applies to heated units, where cold weather reigns and we need to warm things up to keep your items from freezing. What’s more, it controls the humidity level inside the unit, so you avoid moisture build-up.
Standard storage is great for a lot of folks, and a climate controlled unit is not always necessary. We’ve put together the following checklist to help you decide if you need a unit. Check off each one that applies to you – if you find yourself checking even half of these, it’s time to pick a climate control unit.
