Reason #1: Heated storage helps keep sensitive items safe
Storage units without heat can fluctuate in temperature much like the weather outside. If you have items that need to remain in more consistent conditions, especially in the winter, then you’ll want a heated unit.
Here are some items that may need heated conditions:
Reason #2: You’re in an enclosed, indoor space
We keep our heated units at a minimum of 45 degrees Fahrenheit, and most are located indoors so you can access your unit in relative comfort. This also means that your items are less exposed to dust, humidity and inclement weather.
Reason #3: You can confidently store for longer periods
Damage can occur to items that are stored for long periods of time in standard storage units unless they are properly packed, wrapped or periodically treated. That’s much less of a concern with heated units, where severe temperature fluctuations – such as freezing and thawing – are avoided.
Deciding if You Need Heated Storage
Standard storage is great for keeping a lot of things safe, so a heated unit is not always necessary. We’ve put together the following checklist to help you decide if you need a heated unit. Check off each one that applies to you – if you find yourself checking even half of these, it’s time to pick a unit with heat.
