As fires rage across the Pacific Northwest, hundreds of our friends, family, and neighbors have been displaced and evacuated from the area. Northwest Self Storage is working to help our community in this time of need, and is offering up to three months of free storage to those displaced by these fire, including the Eagle Creek Fire.
“The 2017 Northwest fire season has been devastating so far. We stand by our neighbors in this time of crisis, and hope to provide some security and relief for those affected,” said Dawn Tangvald, president of Northwest Self Storage.
This year, significant areas of precious Oregon, Washington, and Idaho wilderness have been severely affected by 859 forest fires:
- 350,000+ total acres
- 226 fires caused by lightning
- 633 fires caused by humans
Currently, the Eagle Creek Fire has affected over 30,000 acres of Oregon land, and as of September 8, is only considered 5 percent contained. We sincerely thank those who are working to keep it contained and protect the historic sites in the Gorge.
If you or someone you know has been evacuated or displaced by the fire, please reach out to one of our following locations for more information and to assess availability of free storage space. For more information about the current fires in the Northwest, head to the Oregon.gov website.
